  3. This release of Fwave IV is missing a number of functions which will be added eventually, but is a functional solver. Analysis of lossy or lossless, linear or non-linear guides, is available.

  5. Files from FWave III cannot be used by FWave IV.

  7. Major functionality added since FWave III:
  8. Lossy materials (or gain) added.
  9. Density plotting added.
  10. PowerMac native version.

  14. Many bug fixes and speed improvements.
  15. Capability to plot any mode without overwriting data.
  16. Mesh refinement during calculation of higher order modes (Improves accuracy considerably for higher modes).
  17. User definable Text file output.
  18. Capability to set the effective index value by hand (and fix it if need be).
  19. Capability to display propagation coefficient or guide wavelength (and loss) instead of effective index.
  20. Capability to alter the relative sizes of the text and plot panes of the main window.
